Let's be honest. Backyard chickens are addicting. And sometimes confusing. Every chicken enthusiast, whether brand new or had chickens for years, loves to read about chickens. If you are looking for some great content, here are 8 of my favorite Backyard Chicken websites-

  • City Girl Farming- I think Kerrie is incredible. After receiving the worst possible news- cancer- she started keeping chickens. The chickens progressed to essential oils, beekeeping, and an overall toxin free life. Her website and blog is filled with amazing information, and inspiration. 
  • Frugal Chicken- Chickens! Gardening! Essential Oils! Sustainable living! Homestead hacks! The Frugal Chicken offers nearly unlimited topics via blog, video and podcast. If you are looking for a great source of incredibly helpful information, look no further. Maat also has a fun Facebook page that is filled with even more videos and excellent educational material!
  • Tilly's Nest- Do you know How to Speak Chicken? If not, check out Tilly's Nest and Melissa will teach you. She also has great articles on beekeeping, gardening, crafting, and a collection of some of my favorite recipes (can you say Pecan Sticky Buns?!) .

  • Morning Chores- Morning Chores is the encyclopedia of self sufficient living. They have everything about everything self sufficiency, from chickens to beekeeping to goats and gardening and more!
  • Backyard Chickens- Backyard Chickens is the largest forum and database of poultry articles on the internet. Everyone is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. If you enjoy talking turkey, or chicken, with others, be sure to visit. They are also a great resource for information if your birds are injured or ill!
  • Community Chickens- Community Chickens comes to you from the same amazing folks that publish Mother Earth News. There are numerous articles to cover every facet of backyard chickens. 
  • The Chicken Chick- When I started keeping chickens, Kathy had all the answers. I visited her website daily for advise. Since then, she has also expanded to beekeeping!
